Liu Yue is a famous composer, guitarist and bassist in Jazz music in China. He is graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music of China. He is a National First-Class Performer with the China Broadcasting Performing Arts Group and a member of the Chinese Musicians Association. He serves as the bassist for Cui Jian's band and is a member of the Zhang Ying Jazz Group. he is the Eastman and D'Addario co-artist, as well as the Chinese brand ambassador for Olsson Amplifier and Jackson Audio. And he is also a member of the editorial committee for China's Midi National Music Grading Examination.

His publications include the instructional VCD Jazz Guitar Teaching, the textbook The Path to Jazz Guitar Improvisation, and the jazz guitar albums Chinese Girl, The Bamboo Whisper, and Embrace(LP).

Liu Yue is a key figure in Chinese jazz. His playing is passionate yet restrained, grand yet unassuming, possessing a unique style. In his compositions, he masterfully blends diverse jazz elements with Chinese musical traditions, fusing rich Eastern colors with modern jazz in his own distinctive way. His album The Bamboo Whisper was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album at the 3rd CMIC Music Awards. In 2023, invited by the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz and UNESCO, he recorded an original work video for the annual International Jazz Day celebration, which was broadcast on their official platforms. In 2024, he held the highly acclaimed concert Dialogue with Painting, featuring his original Chinese-style jazz works, at the Beijing Art Center.
