Michael J. Engdahl
Michael Engdahl is a guitarist, composer, and educator based in Wichita, KS. He recently graduated from Wichita State University with a B.M. in Jazz Studies where he performed with the Jazz Arts I Big Band, Guitar Ensemble and lead multiple jazz combos.
Beyond jazz ensembles, he has been a part of the pit orchestra for Music Theater for Young People Wichita, Wichita State University, Hesston College, and has performed with the Wichita State Symphony Orchestra. Michael has performed with multiple original bands and has collaborated with local artists in Wichita and the surrounding area. He has been a part of multiple recording sessions as a band member and studio musician throughout the Midwest. Most notably, he has played the main stage at the Wichita River Festival opening for Robert Randolph and the Family Band (2015) and shared the stage with national jazz act Fingerprints Band (2016) all as a band leader. He was a Semi-Finalist in the Wilson Center Guitar Competition and Festival in Brookefield, WI(2016).
He recently joined the music faculty at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS and continues to offer lessons at
Air House Music Academy (www.airhousemusic.com) and Senseney Music (www.senseneymusic.com) in Wichita, KS.
He offers both individual and group instruction for guitar at both locations.
